Happiness, Health, and The Expat Life.
Why Bucerias
Making the decision to expat to a new country is both exciting and exhausting. After visiting the small fisherman’s village we were hooked. It was just the vibe we were looking for. We discovered how Bucerias & the Riveria Nayarit offer a perfect blend of relaxation, adventure, and wellness. Congratulations to us! I’ll share the various aspects that contributed to our choice to live long-term living in Bucerias. From obtaining temporary residency to understanding the cost of living, local culture, transportation options, housing prices, and the favorable buying power of the U.S. dollar, we’ll try to cover it all.
Getting Temporary Residency:
To start our long-term living life in Bucerias, we obtain temporary residency. We felt that it was vital to obtain residency in order to provide a stable legal status during our time in Mexico. We actually started the process outside of Mexico in our home country USA. It is important to make an appointment at the Mexican consulate closest to your home and submit your application in person. The process is thorough so be sure to gather the necessary documents, complete application forms, and call your Mexican consulate if you have any questions prior to your appointment
Locals, Culture, and Food:
The warm and welcoming community in Bucerias made us feel right at home. We are excited to continue to explore the friendly locals and their vibrant culture, festivals, and customs. And let’s not forget the mouthwatering food! We can’t wait to indulge in the diverse culinary scene, from street tacos to seafood delights.
Close-By Towns and Attractions:
Bucerias is ideally situated in the Riviera Nayarit region, offering easy access to nearby towns and attractions. We are close to popular destinations such as Sayulita, Punta Mita, and Puerto Vallarta, each with its own unique charm. We will be spoiled for choices when it comes to exploring the beautiful beaches, local markets,, and vibrant art scenes, and arts walk in the Golden Zone
Transportation Options:
Getting around is surprisingly easy. We discovered the convenient and affordable transportation options available in Bucerias. Like the local bus system, ATM, Compostela is known for its low-cost fares, from $6.00 to $13.00 pesos. An extra bonus is Uber is available as well as taxis and rental cars. Navigating your way around the town and neighboring areas will be a breeze.
Cost of Living:
One of the advantages of living in Bucerias is the affordable cost of living. We researched the specifics, like housing prices, grocery expenses, transportation costs, healthcare, and other essential aspects. We discovered how our budget can stretch further, hopefully allowing us to enjoy a comfortable lifestyle without breaking the bank.
Housing Prices and Possibilities:
Finding the perfect place to call home is essential. We were fortunate to connect with one of the best real estate agents in the Riveria Nayarit. Rebeca from Bay Realty, Mexico . Rebeca was able to guide us with insights into housing prices helping us understand the rental and buying property market. We toured beachfront condos to cozy apartments, and gain a sense of the housing possibilities that align with our preferences and budget.
U.S. Dollar Buying Power:
Expats from the United States will be pleased to know that the U.S. dollar has favorable buying power in Mexico. Even with the recent USD/MXN downtrends hovering lower it still beats inflation prices in the U.S. I have become an expert in tracking exchange rate benefits, enabling us to make the most of our dollar and stretching money wisely.
Our long-term living begins:
Ultimately, our ex-pat journey to Bucerias is about prioritizing our health & wellness, community, and reducing stress. Our criteria for a new home base have been met. Bucerias & Riveria Nayarit has the factors that contribute to us making the decision to a different quality of life, such as the laid-back beach town atmosphere, outdoor activities, affordable living, and ample healthcare options.
Bucerias, Mexico promises a fulfilling and enriching experience. No town is perfect. and I am sure there will challenging times and a steep learning curve. The challenges, highs, and lows are part of the journey and we are ready for embarkation. Leaping to a new adventure anywhere in the world is exciting. but when the destination aligns with your values and needs then it’s a win-win bonus!
